About Yvette

Hello!

Thank you for visiting my website! I look forward to meeting you!

I am an eco-ethical vegan cruelty-free freelance professional makeup artist, holistic beauty therapist, stylist/image consultant and nutritionist living in the gorgeous Southern Highlands.

I started my makeup artist career off when I was at school – creating animal faces on my fellow students for the play Wind in the Willows!

I was instantly offered a scholarship to one of the leading makeup schools in Sydney – but my sensible father thought that I should first do a course in something more consistent, and after a massive temper tantrum which took me to Holland to visit my grandmother – I met a cousin who was a passionate beauty therapist.

Her passion rubbed off on me – and I came back to Australia to study beauty therapy at Ella Bache before studying makeup artistry at Sydney School of makeup art for another year.

Whilst studying makeup – I was offered a position with Revlon on their promotional makeup artist team (in those days- Revlon was the Mac of makeup and David Jones was the Mecca of beauty) – which meant I worked on fashion parades, television, June Dally Watkins teaching and you name it – I was involved in it!

I progressed to being one of Elite Italia Model Management makeup artists which opened so many wonderful opportunities for me – alongside being part of Ella Bache’s promotional team and also ending up on the books of International Model management as one of their makeup artists.

From a very young age, I became very concerned with animal rights – which means that I have always tried to source cruelty-free products.

When I studied Nutrition, I became even more conscious of what I apply to people’s skin and I now specifically look for clean, ethical and vegan beauty as I believe they are the ultimate luxury, I do not use products that compromise your health because to me that is not a beautiful thing.

I am now passionate about saving this planet, being compassionate to animals, and leaving as small a footprint as possible, so my products all reflect this today.

All my makeup products are hand-picked and tried out on my overly sensitive face before adding them to my kit. I have a range of foundations suited for all skin types, and all levels of coverage.

Every product is cruelty-free, vegan, mineral and organic wherever possible. I am proud to wear the badge of eco-ethical wedding supplier!

I am also a trained stylist & image consultant – so I know which colours to choose for your eye makeup, lips, and cheeks to enhance your features so your ‘natural’ makeup doesn’t make you look flat – but glamorous, yet completely naturally beautiful. I was lucky enough to finish my makeup training with a woman who was renowned for her ability to make eyes look bigger, lips fuller and cheeks more defined without the use of huge amounts of makeup.

I always work in High definition, so understand the importance of my makeup looking perfectly flawless, yet light and dewy and luminous.

Although my makeup application is light-handed, and it allows your skin to shine through, my makeup lasts – thanks to years of experience in having to apply makeup so it lasts under hot lights and often unforgiving conditions.

Don’t take my word for it, look at what the professionals have to say!

Image maker/Stylist

As a beauty therapist, makeup artist, image consultant & stylist, I have worked with many of the prestigious image-makers, including Robert Pante (stylist to the American Presidents and their wives) and The Image Makers.

Training the trainers

I was the National Training Manager for Pelactiv Skincare and once I left Sydney I trained makeup artists to my high standards to become part of my team.  I spent many years before Pelactiv and after training beauty therapists in holistic beauty and wellness treatments. I also consulted with wellness spas, assisting them to set up their operations to include a fluid delivery of holistic beauty services.

An industry voice

I used to write feature articles for Professional Beauty, a leading industry magazine, and have also written training manuals for several skincare companies. I have taught skincare, makeup, haircare, wardrobe, etiquette, and deportment at June Dally Watkins, Elite Italia Model Management, International Models, and John Robert Powers, and have worked as a valued advisor and trainer on Val Stevenson’s parades and promotions. I now write beauty and wellness blogs at The Ethical Beauty Expert
